AUTOMATA

10/21/2015

My project is a ballerina automata that goes up and down and moves side to side.

The materials iI used were an iPhone 5s box, 2 pictures of a ballerina, a foam board, 2 wooden sticks, metal circles used to put around the holes that were hop punched into the box, and foam cylinders.

The tools I used were a hole punch, card board scissors, regular scissors, a tool used to secure the metal circles, a hot glue gun, and blue painters tape.

The most challenging part of the project was getting the figure on top to stop wobbling. At first I didn't no what to do, all it needed was more hot glue and a metal circle to hold the wooden stick steady.

The most fun part was looking at pictures of dancers and choosing the coolest pose to fit the motion.

I learned that a lot of glue was needed for this project but their was no new tools I needed to use. My strategies were just to put tape around some parts of the wooden stick to make it thicker .

If I was given the oprotunity I wouldn't change anything I think it turned out pretty well, but it could have been better if I built another one out of wood.

Pineapple Project

My project is a foam pineapple with plastic leaves that spin. Around the pineapple there are play-do flowers with little colored plastic confetti.

The materials I used are mainly a yellow foam, plastic colored confetti, 3D green paper, a motor, wires, batteries, a chunk of gray foam, green foam, green plastic fans, and play-do.

The tools I used are a glue gun, a soldering iron, cardboard scissors, an exacto knife, and a safety knife.

The most challenging part of this project was hot gluing the two skinny yellow pieces of foam together to from a pineapple. I resolved this problem by gluing the thing together very carefully but I ended up with a small burn of my finger.

One of the coolest parts in my oppinion was getting to see my final work in action. I felt success when I found out my creation worked.

I learned how to use a soldering tool and I thought it was pretty cool putting the wires together. When I was using the soldering iron I forgot to bend the wires over one another and I was trying to hold them together and solder but I soon remembered that I should bend the two ends of the wire and clip them together.

If I had the time I would have made my pineapple rounder and cut it with an exacto knife.
